Maternity and Obstetrics Department
Health networks

The CHPG Maternity is involved in 2 care networks which have very different objectives:

  • The Perinatal Mediterranean Network named ” PERINATMED “
  • The city-hospital network of perinatal care

This network covers the following regions : Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur – Corsica and the Principality of Monaco. Its goal is the optimal care of mothers and newborns depending on the risk level during the delivery.

The CHPG’s Maternity is a type 2 maternity that offers a Neonatology unit which enables the care of newborn infants from 32 weeks of pregnancy.

In the event of early delivery, a prenatal transfer to a type 3 maternity should be considered so that the newborn child may be hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit.

In the framework of the PérinatMed network, the type 3 reference maternity for the CHPG is the Archet Hospital in Nice.

If you’re already followed by a town doctor or by a self-employed midwife who are part of the City-Hospital Network and you have decided to give birth at the CHPG’s Maternity, your follow up can be done jointly, with your practitioner and by the Hospital team.

In the absence of identified risks, your doctor typically carries out follow-up consultations until the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Some town doctors also carry out fetal ultrasounds.

Ideally, a first consultation in order to open a file in your name must be planned at the Maternity before the end of the 4th month of pregnancy. The following consultations at the CHPG should take place around 7 months of pregnancy in the absence of pregnancy-related pathologies: prenatal consultation with a doctor or a midwife and pre-anesthetic consultation.

In the event of risk situations or pregnancy complications, you can be redirected to a hospital follow-up at the CHPG.

Activities

The CHPG’s maternity is a 2 a level maternity, where birth is given to approximately 1000 newborns per year.
