Maternity and Obstetrics Department
Post-Birth – Stay

Your stay

The expected duration of your stay at the maternity is in average 3 days for a vaginal delivery and 5 days for a caesarean section. The duration can be adjusted according to your wishes, depending on the evolution of the state of your health and the baby’s.

Each room is equipped with a space dedicated for the care of newborns and a bathroom with shower and toilet. Nappies, toiletries and baby formula are provided by the CHPG

  • The nursery is equipped to carry out technical treatments, support and education of young parents for the care of newborns.
  • For mothers who wish, the staff can take care of your baby during the night.

A midwife is present 24 hours per day and is assisted by a childcare assistant or nursing assistant, in order to provide care to the mother and child and to support you in the early days of maternity.
The medical team consisting of an obstetrician-gynaecologist, an anesthetist and a pediatrician is present 24 hours per day if need be.

The best choice for feeding your baby is the one you will make, as a matter of well-being for you and your child.

Deciding to breastfeed is up to you.

Breastfeeding is natural but not always easy. Whatever difficulty may arise, please do not hesitate to contact the maternity team, lactation consultants and perinatal care network professionals. Weekly breastfeeding support meetings are offered to you free of charge and without registration: on Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. If you happen to be there on a Monday, during your stay, you can attend with your baby.

You can opt for bottle-feeding with infant formula adapted to the needs of your child.

During your stay, the healthcare team will assist you and provide a personalised logbook enabling you to follow the evolution of your child’s diet.

During your stay the catering team is at your service from 7 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week.
Each day a member of the catering team will show you the menu of the day and the set menu and will also help you to customize your breakfast:

  • Breakfast is served at 7:30 am, meals at 12 o’clock and 6:30 pm
  • A snack is served around 3pm
  • A meal tray is offered and served to your spouse, in your room and during the stay.
